The genesis of The Island Cinephile was founded as a dedication to the allure of cinema. A virtual diary comprised as an ode of love for the arts, both those exceptional ones and even more so, those less than perfect films. The love for these pictures can scarcely be retraced. It starts with the sweeping Austrian hills and a beautiful soundtrack in The Sound of Music. It continues with the complex characters crafted in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Even some of the worst ones that squirm their way in like that challenged animated movie Foodfight or even those questionable Sharknado films. All attempts of art are physical proof of human ingenuity. My hope is that when you interact with any of these posts, you too would develop a critical eye through which you view them. Not simply as mindless entertainment to consume, but rather as a medium that we can use to inspire meaningful discourse.
